SOLOVAIR & NPS FACTORY SHOP OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK
The Northamptonshire Productive Society (NPS) was founded in 1881 by five men in Wollaston, Northamptonshire. At the very beginning we manufactured footwear for the British Army, for over 30 years NPS produced Solovair (Sole-of-Air) boots and shoes under licence for AirWair under the name “Dr Martens made by Solovair”, and more recently we manufacture for brands including John Lewis, Kurt Geiger, Marks & Spencer, Joules and Jack Wills.
All aspects of our footwear manufacturing is made in Wollaston and after 135 years in continuous manufacturing we have opened a new Factory Shop to sell our Solovair® and NPS® footwear ranges, as well as some High-Street branded styles.

In its concept and route, the NPS Factory tour follows specific content-related criteria, giving guests access to all shoe production technologies at NPS Shoes Factory: the ‘Clicking’ or cutting Room, Closing room, Levelling / Making Room, Shoe Room, while machines have made production more efficient, the fundamental process has remained the same at our factory for over a century.
